In the heart of Montreal’s vibrant music scene, a unique and spirited quartet is making waves – the Berta Boys. Comprising Twangin’ Tony Laroche, Sharp Shootin’ Shae Brossard, Cotton Eyed Joey Blaze, and “Wild Rose” Gabriel Larose, this eclectic ensemble formed in June 2022, fuelled by a shared love for country music and a whimsical take on the Alberta lifestyle.
Their musical journey took a triumphant turn in February 2023 when they clinched victory at the prestigious Diving Bell Battle of the Bands. This win set the stage for the Berta Boys to carve their niche in the Montreal music landscape. Seizing the momentum, they organized the inaugural Montreal Stampede in June 2023, a sprawling event that blended live music, burlesque performances, and unconventional activities like wheelbarrow races – a true testament to their offbeat creativity.
Taking their show on the road, the Berta Boys embarked on a cross-country tour, culminating at the iconic Calgary Stampede. Their raucous energy and distinct Alberta-themed flair caught the attention of local brewing company Alberta Genuine Draft, leading to a unique sponsorship.
But the Berta Boys are not just a one-note act. In August 2023, they diversified their portfolio by starting a DJ residency at Champs Sports Bar. Their DJ empire was soon extended to Spaghetti Western in November 2023, where they became the resident DJs, turning it into Montreal’s hot spot for country beats.
Beyond their musical pursuits, the Berta Boys proudly represent the cutting-edge hydration and health of sports drink BioSteel and the timeless elegance of bespoke flask company Jacob Bromwell as their brand ambassadors, blending their love for country aesthetics with premium lifestyle brands.
As they gear up for the release of their debut album Dans les Prairies in spring 2024, the Berta Boys continue to inject a healthy dose of country spirit into the Montreal music scene.
